Analyst to do buyer outreach?
I work at a small M&A / cap raise boutique where analysts have tons of responsibility... no associates, VPs or directors between us and the partners. Really great exposure, as the analysts get to do basically everything, but somewhat lacking in structure, and a ton of work...
Anyways, my question: For buyer outreach, is it weird for the initial email to come from an analyst? One of the partners doesn't seem to think so. My intuition says that normally a VP/director/partner would do that. Sending from an analyst feels like a message from the bank to the client that this deal isn't all that important.
Or maybe I'm bugging.... Anyone else work at a shop with a similar situation?
At my firm, for cold outreach we do all the work–find the relevant contact and contact info, draft the email–but then send the draft and info to the MD who ultimately sends the outreach
Yeah I (MM M&A analyst) send initial emails - for a broad process we just split it up between the team members including myself. Do all of the communications from the NDA to the process letter but if the buyer has any questions, I flag for the associate or VP.
Work at a very reputable but small MM shop. Usually Associates/VP send emails but I've done them before too if they're swamped with work.
