Antares Capital (LevFin) -- Thoughts?
So I have been hearing more and more about this leveraged finance firm. I know it is a pretty good firm, but I was wondering how well it stacks up against other firms, and what the exit opps would look like from someone coming from a firm like this?
It was very solid under GE. Time will tell how well it will remain intact under new ownership. Plenty of guys at the top have departed to competitors.
Who are their main competitors? Just other banks and private debt shops?
Yep. Anyone from banks to groups like AB or Golub.
Making the assumption that they remain as solid as before, do you think someone working here would have a good shot at mm pe?
Possibly. I've always found the mentality distinction between equity and debt investing to be more pronounced than others do. One is risk aversion and the other is risk-seeking.
That being said, you will be working consistently with sponsors, so you will have a strong understanding of what they are looking for, how they structure deals, etc.
