Anyone else this passionate about their banking job?
Recently had a networking call that lasted an hour. The person I was talking to started out in IB but transitioned into WM as they got older. In the call, they complained about being forced to take off 2 weeks this year. She told me before this year, she hadn’t taken a vacation in 24 years. Also, she told me she say this was her life and didn’t give a F about WLB. She is in her 60’s now. Anyone else love their job that much???

If she didn't care about work-life balance, she wouldn't have switched to wealth management. I highly doubt she is earning a fatter check.

Hey, she really enjoys her work and loves to make moneY and be at GS. that such a bad thing? No one defines your happiness besides you. People could think your a loser for being a corporate sweat and going into IB. Do you care? I hope not.
If you have nothing in your life that would make you want to take time off work, you are a loser.
People like these make this job/industry unsustainable at the junior level. Fuck these types of people.
If that's how you want to live your life ok but don't expect others to do the same even in IB. Even the hardiest of hardos couldn't hack 2 decades without a day off. A lot of MDs have this "If I can go 10 years on 4 hours of sleep without a day off so can you" mentality. Fuck off.
