Are Nomura IB applications open for rising sophomores?

I see a couple rising sophomores securing 2022 Nomura Investment Banking Summer Analyst roles on Linkedin. However, o the job portal on their website, they said they want candidates graduating between December 2022 and June 2023 for the job. Is Nomura's IB internship open to rising sophomores, or did these candidates get the job by attending Nomura's diversity event?
