I love you

Sure I'll give it a go. Are you asking if there are non-whites in Minneapolis, or non-whites in finance in Minneapolis? The city itself is reasonably diverse - super large somali population and decently large indian population. Decent number of black people. However if we're talking high finance....well...that's a different story. I think I've only ever met one guy who's not white or Indian.

I know I'm not representative of everyone's experiences of course, but I've spent a lot of time downtown and know most of the firms well at this point.

People make too much of a deal about skin color. One of the MDs in town that is African American is as white as you can get.

If you're asking if Minneapolis is a great place to build a career as a non-white professional, I would say no. If you're asking if Minneapolis has non-white people broadly - yes (but in high finance, law, general business, etc. then no).

I'm not actually an intern but as you wish...don't seem to see how your post is much diff than mine tho. There's some asian but few black/hispanics in the industry in Minneapolis.

Are you debating this?

OP - big Somali population in MSP. City itself may not be a NYC/LA etc or a London but you have to remember that very few countries in the world are “diverse” and so we we spoiled for choice here in the US.

Good Luck

I used to do Asia-Pacific PE (kind of like FoF). Now I do something else but happy to try and answer questions on that stuff.

People commenting are fucking morons. I’m from the area, grew up in the area, went to school in the area and previously worked there before New York. And oh yeah, I’m half black so I certainly can comment.

No shit there are non whites there, this isn’t Montana. Minneapolis itself is arguably the most diverse town in the state. With plenty of diverse young people. There are a lot of Somalians though and they piss me off a lot, but not due to them simply being Somalian. However, you have to remember this is the Midwest (north Midwest at that) so there’s not as much diversity as say NYC or LA.

What even is the point of this question again?
