Are you happy in IB?
Looking for:
1. Those who have made the cut into IBD in a bank that has good culture. What do you love most about working in IB and are you planning to stay for the long term? How would you recommend finding the right bank and group that has amazing reps and culture? Please indicate if you work for a BB or MM/EB/RB bank as well, if possible.
2. Those what are generally unhappy with the position. Do you work at a BB or MM/EB/RB? Do you think that IBD is worth it? Are you planning to make a pivot into some other fields and if so, what exits are you considering? What do you think about asset management positions at investment banks now that you've done your time in IBD, is it more attractive to you now?

I wasn’t happy in coverage but I recently switched to dcm and am a lot happier. The work is still interesting to me but now I also get some time to myself during the day. This is a healthy balance for me

Can’t speak for anyone working at a BB / EB but I wasn’t completely miserable at my MM and most people I met who worked at a MM had relatively manageable hours without a difference in pay. A lot of them also didn’t want to go to MF PE firms, Faang Corp Dev roles or big name VCs, so they didn’t feel like they missed out on anything
Thank you for the insight, can you expand more on what MM market firms do you and your friends work at by chance? Would love to position myself at firms with the best culture for recruiting as I do not care about prestige at all. Thank you again!
