Asshole Interviewer?

I had a 2nd round about a month ago with a VP and an Associate. It involved a consulting-like case interview which was presumably supposed to take ~10 minutes and be mixed in with other technicals and behaviorals. The VP kept cutting me off every other word and saying my answers were wrong and he ended the Zoom call very abruptly because we ran out of time before getting to any other questions. At the time I thought he was just trying to test my temperament so I stayed calm and composed while walking him through my thought processes as he shot me down on every minor detail. Did not make it to the superday.

Looking back on it now, I’m wondering whether he was actually putting up an act or if he was just simply an ass. Anyways, I’d love to hear your stories about harsh/asshole interviewers and how you reacted.

Count it as a blessing because you don't want to work with him. People are showing you their best in the interview; if something seems off, just wait until you start full time and those problems are magnified a thousand fold.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.

Don't worry about it man. It happens. Don't get hung up on it. You are a good person and will succeed. Don't let one bad interaction with someone who would have dragged you down with them bring you down or demotivate you. You got this man, keep it up, and move forward.

If they act like an asshole in an interview, chances are they are huge assholes.

I had an analyst interview me while looking at their phone pretending they're so busy. I ended up getting the role. A few months in, the analyst ended up being a huge asshole.

I was interviewed for a back-office role once by a kid that had a chip on his shoulder. He wore a mood ring, and went to a target school. The way he described the role told me he had a chip on his shoulder; his description of the product control role was that it was at least 70 hours a week and that it requires knowing excel shortcuts really well (lol). I thank my blessings I didn't get an offer as I really needed cash at that time and would have accepted it.

I interviewed with a relatively small boutique without much acclaim to it and I was the only female at the superday. Everyone in the different rounds was kind until I had an interview with an analyst and one of the two females at the bank decided to sit in during my interview. She was an associate. The analyst asked me a few questions and the associate cut him off and decided to ask me brainteasers. As I was answering and solving the question with pen and paper, she would cut me off repeatedly and tried very hard to make me flustered - "but what about --" or "did you do --". I got the answer finally but she definitely made me feel more flustered than necessary. I am always surprised when women try to undermine other women, especially because when I left and mentioned the experience, all the other males had said that that associate was "super nice" to them. I wasn't sure at the time if this was her general interview tactic, but clearly it had been just to me.

I had another superday lined up at this point with a better bank and on the buyside, but I wasn't sure if it would pan out. I ended up getting an offer at this bank, and was on the verge of accepting at this place because the buyside firm didn't work out. I ended up getting an offer at the better other bank, which was a blessing because I think I would have absolutely hated working with her especially if she had a tendency to be an asshole to other females.
