BarCap Tech - Weird Phone Call

I got a call from Barclays Cap Tech today: The HR lady was like, "this is regarding your interview with us on campus a few days back. the interviewers were very impressed with you, but at this time, we would like to put you on hold. we have rejected a lot of the applicants, but you're one of the top applicants. do you have any exploding offers? we will let you know in a few weeks" what does that mean?

Thanks.

It means that if another applicant that they extended the offer to declines, then you're next on the list

Don't try to read between the lines here. It means exactly what she told you. You're waitlisted. If you have another offer outstanding that expires soon, let them know and they may accelerate your application process (either positively or negatively).

Cornellianhmm should i do anything to help my case?

If you don't have any other exploding offers then there is nothing else you can really do. Just sit back and hope that somebody else drops out because you are probably the next on the list. I agree that if you don't hear anything in a week or a week and a half you can send a really brief email expressing your enthusiasm and asking if there is any update on your status. Just don't become a pest.

Nope. Wait a week and send an email saying you're still interested. Interview is over, it is out of your hands now.
