Summer 22 intern at a bulge bracket bank. Was wondering how do BBs generally background check your academic/school records. Do they (or the background check company) directly call your school to request information or do they typically just ask you to send them an official/unofficial transcript?

Generally they’ll just have you send transcripts (can’t remember if it’s official or unofficial).
My employer asks the school directly, they have a special phone number or email where employers can verify records.
Some, more modern schools, also have a code or QR code on diplomas or transcripts to check online (but that is only for the overall document, not grades)
