BB Corporate Banking or Middle Market IBD

I am a junior in college that will be working in corporate banking over the summer. The end goal for me is private equity or an impact investing firm. Is the transition from CB possible or should I move to the IBD of a middle market firm like Stifel, Jefferies, or Harris Williams? Thanks!

The biggest reason I'm hesitant to go into IB is the lifestyle. However, impact investing is a career path that I know I'd find fulfilling. Is IB the only (viable) path to PE or do I have other options?

If your end goal is PE, MM IBD would be the better option as CB doesn't exit to PE from what I've seen. And I completely agree with what the above user said - If you find yourself interested in CB more, then go for it. At the end of the day, you're more likely to succeed if you actually enjoy/have interest in the work you're doing.

Don't confuse motion with progress. You can run in place all day, doesn't mean you'll be moving forward.
