BB Coverage Question
What kind of exit opps do a 2nd year analyst in a mid tier (BAML/Citi/UBS) coverage group have? Asking about opportunities without networking. Do all recruiters respect your coverage experience? What if you interview well, but have limited M&A experience? Just curious to hear about those who didn't go on cycle. Curious to hear about people's experiences.

One of these banks is not at the same level at least in Europe
For the US ones I can tell you that you get inbounds every week, not sure about UBS but it may be similar too
Asking from a US (NY office) perspective. Appreciate any insight. Especially as it relates to just dropping a resume, and getting interviews vs having to network etc.
The thing with M&A or LevFin is that you work across industries and do the most rigorous modeling work so your exits opp universe is as broad as possible. Someone doing FIG capital raises isn’t going to make an optimal candidate at a buyout fund focusing on Tech/Healthcare/Etc.
Robust coverage groups still place very well in buy-side roles where there is an industry overlap, but it narrows the field a bit. Ie, Tech bankers at JPM aren’t going to be at a disadvantage for Tech PE shops at all.
