BB M&A Guys, what’s your experience like?

Do you just run with the models all day? Is your entire experience live deal execution or do you pitch too? Do you get any exposure to other deal types like ECM DCM LevFin and IPOs? Do you think your skill set is notably different than that of your coverage counterparts (the ones that do in-house m&a). Also interested in how this varies by BB. Thanks!

interesting, so why are the exits so much better (generally) than coverage? is the process based stuff really that relevant for PE? i would think that kinda stuff gets outsourced to the fsg group within the context of an LBO transaction anyways, no?

Dude lol. It’s even more process stuff in PE when you actually advance to R2. It’s all glorified. A vast majority of the job is admin bs every step of the way. Think you’re looking for Asset Management or Trading

I cannot recommend enough that you reach out to Alumni and ask them these questions. Simply reach out via email, set up a call, and have 5 solid questions prepared.

Not only will it help you build a network and find opportunities, but it will also prepare you for interviews. It always calms the nerves and makes you seem more confident to have an idea of how a shop is operated.

On top of that, maybe try to find some folks that exited to PE or something and get their non-biased opinion.

Also know that what happens at X bank in Chicago in group x, may be entirely different than what happens in New York in group x.
