BB/EB couple lateral/relocation question

I'm at EB in a LCOL city. Spouse is currently at BB S&T in NYC. We both enjoy our current cities but would love to be together asap. Who should make the move?

Planning to buy a house/get a baby soon so quality of life/education/safety is now part of the equation, on top of the usual considerations (tax/affordability/career opportunity/etc.).

Would love to hear inputs/reasonings from you all. Anyone done similar move before? any regret/thoughts? Thanks monkeys.

I mean, in the best way possible, but that should be a decision you guys should make

By this I mean that LCOL means fewer job opportunities (probably none in S&T), but usually a better culture which will make it easier on you. Keep in mind what could happen if you get laid off (i.e., how many more banks are there in the city?). LCOL could be Chicago (which is ok career wise- it is huge in derivatives after all), but it could also be Denver (pretty narrow opps).

NYC means more jobs but also a harder place to raise kids. Not just more expensive, but the rat race is real and kids are hard to balance. This being said, higher earnings down the line.

Also, keep in mind that education will probably be best in NYC (if you pay the hefty price, all being said).
