Best Chicago Shop for Chicago PE Recruiting?

Currently at a decent solid MM shop and looking to lateral to a Chicago shop as associate and then recruit for PE after 1 year. Which group in Chicago is best for (I) PE recruiting (II) lifestyle / culture (III) comp? Can someone give me their top 5?

Work backwards—look at Madison Dearborn, GTCR, vistria, vista, Cressey, pritzker, waud capital, valor equity parters, flexpoint Ford, waterstreet and read the bios of current associates. This will give you an idea of what historically has happened. Also, I would add different question if your goal is Chicago PE versus PE across the US from a Chicago office. If it is PE across the country from a US office, brand name likely triumphs all. If Chicago PE, it will be firms that have a strong presence and relationships.

Done that and I seems like it would be Blair and Baird for Chicago shops? And, everyone seems to come from BB in NYC. So, should I assume Blair and Baird have the best value for Chicago IB? Is there a particular team that place better? And, good life style?

Nope, all I'm saying is I feel like a lot of top chicago PE are recruiting outside of Chicago from IB analyst pool in NYC. I would expect people to come from Chicago, because they have local ties. Essentially, I'm trying to figure out if there's any local chicago shops that does well in Chicago PE recruiting.
