So there's a thread about this from 2014 but I'm curious how things have changed. What are the best groups for WF IBD? I'm pretty into Sponsors, M&A, TMT, and Corporate Finance, but I'm curious to know which are better relative to the street. Thoughts?

E&P Is pretty competitive with other BBs in the industry. Strongest suits are going to be capital intensive industries where the balance sheet can help out.
Also very curious to learn. Would really appreciate if someone with experience could speak on this.
Second coverage energy group
Energy is good and I think FIG, when I interviewed it founded like guys got placed from many different groups though
Does anyone know which groups are based in NYC vs Charlotte?
The majority of groups, even those with an NY presence, are based in Charlotte.
The groups that have NYC presence are ECM, Industrials, TMT, M&A, FSG, FIG, and CHG (Consumer, Healthcare, and Gaming). I'm not sure if I'm missing any but those are what I know for fact.

Corp fin is also exclusively in NYC.
M&A, FSG, Industrials, FIG, CHG, & TMT are all pretty decent (send kids to MM PE) out of NYC. Deal flow is getting pretty good in some of those groups as well from what I hear (CHG/FIG).
I want to second their FIG being really strong, had that huge deal with CS and capital one that they close, like 16bn asset sale or something close
Does anyone know anything about their corporate defense group that is part of the m&a group?I am a generalist at a strong MM right now but WF would be a step up, just tough to find info on the group and I'm interviewing soon with them. Thanks in advance
