Best MDs of all time
Curious as to see if there is a list or ranking for the best MDs of all time? Maybe based on revenue generated or fees?

Career Resources
Based 100% on just my vibes (have not data to back this up, in no particular order, and very limited list):
ehh other than Rohatyn, Moelis, and Quattrone, these guys don't have the same statute as Bruce Wasserstein, Bob Greenhill, Joe Perella etc
I once had the unfortunate experience of seeing Wasserstein in a mankini at his beach house...it was his house and private beach so I guess I can't complain too much.
Trauber and Laghari
E Eric Tokat
Aryeh Bourkoff, Nataraj, Quattrone, Aiyengar, Etc
Everyone is second tier when in a room with Rohatyn. And I have worked with a couple of the top names since and they are impressive but Rohatyn is M&A god
I had one meeting with Rohtayn when I was an analyst and he was in his 70s and he was still on another plane to anyone. Knew everyone, knew all the chess pieces and knew the technical and accounting detail better than the other MDs. Pulled a slide rule out and check my merger math, no none.
A shoutout to Ken Jacobs of Lazard. Low key but no one could work a board better
Patty Bateman VP
Paul Taubman
The mediocre MD in the other post
.
Del
Andrea Orcel
Underrated pick. Certainly the best FIG banker of the last few decades and perhaps the greatest deal maker in Europe.
Yeah, likely the undisputed FIG / Banks banker. Got aura too. Although i do wonder how many more failed UniCredit bids does he have left before the BoD start to get impatient with him
These lists are absolutely bush league. How do you guys compile a list of GOAT bankers and not include the one and only Justine E. Tobin.
.
Gregg Lemkau
Justine Tobin
Shi… I didn’t know we were talking about Greek Demigods of Wall Street. I was once graced by her presence when she offered me an analyst position with a base of $0.0 and a estimate % bonus of around ~0.0% to top it off.
dude why are you stealing my joke. i already posted this joke up top. how dare you speak of the untouchable tobin name twice.
Sad you think this is a joke. $1 of revenue on $0 in salary is about as high of a return as you can get
Of all time:
sage kelly
real
ben lorello
He was definitely at the top when it comes to resourcefulness
Gene Sykes
Eric Tao, CPS Pierpoint
Michael Grimes might not be atop the all-time list now but he's the Patrick Mahomes of the modern tech era
He has a good family too. His distant cousin Rick Grimes is enjoying a fine career in law enforcement.
There are so many people who worked in the 80s and 90s that you/we just haven’t heard of. Also, how has Mike Milken not been mentioned? I am adding him to the top of the list.
Are you guys for real? No mention of John Pierpont Morgan???
Sidney Weinberg
Very late, but definitely Byron Trott
Probably my MD, pretty chill dude
Jonathan Kaye really packs a punch
In no particular order: Bruce Wasserstein, Joe Perella, Jon Corzine, Christian Siva Jothy, John Thain, Michael Klein, Felix Rohatyn, Ken Moelis, Andre Meyer, Michael Milken, Hank Paulson, Kunal Shah, Both the Weinbergs, Frank Quattrone
