Best Way To Become a Master of Technical Finance?

Hi,

So basically, I've been having no luck with networking, etc. so far and I want to dedicate my last year in school to networking even more, improving my GPA and the rest of the time becoming an absolute master of finance/accounting and public speaking/social skills. Since I go to a non-target and have nothing special in terms of ECs/Work Experience, I need to prove that I am just as smart as Wharton/Harvard/Stern/etc. kids in terms of pure knowledge of finance/accounting. I think that this, coupled with a high GPA should help me maybe get a FT offer, but since I'm from a non-target and don't have overachiever-like qualities on my resume (i.e. I have a good GPA, but I don't have a high GPA + amazing leadership + hundreds of awards + a brand name school, etc.), I really need to be something special with my finance/accounting knowledge to standout and beat out those kids who look better on paper. Now, I know that I also need to work on my social/interviewing skills which I'm working on, but in terms of mastering the technicals of finance and accounting, what are some habits, books, etc. that I need to read/develop in order to know the ins and outs of finance at a highly proficient level?

Thanks

Brealey & Myers Principles of Corp Finance inside and out. The FT every day. But I am sure there is much more if you truly want to impress. but would be interested if people had concrete answers to this as well.

Would maybe read this book by McKinsey: "Valuation: Measuring and Managing the Value of Companies". Must-read at some point if you're working in the industry as really breaks down valuation but be warned, it's not an easy read and quite heavy topics. Of course focus on understanding the basics in broad context and networking first...
