Big 4 Consulting to Restructuring

Hey everyone,

Hope y'all had a great 4th last week and congrats to the national USA women's team on their win today. U S A !

I'm currently entering my last year at a non-target school doing a dual-degree program (Masters of Accounting and B.S.M. in Finance). My prior work experience includes a Big 4 Audit internship, as well as deal experience in the VC and IB M&A/Valuation space. Ultimately, I would love to work for a top-tier US restructuring shop that gets to work on the most interesting and complex commercial bankruptcies, as well as sovereign restructurings.

I recently spoke to my friend's father (an absolute vet in the high finance world), and he suggested that I pursue a top Big 4 consulting gig for a year because he believes I will have a better chance at getting my foot in the door there. After a year and being able to network in NY, I would ultimately try to lateral to said restructuring shops.

Have any of you made the move from Big 4 consulting to restructuring? What kind of consulting positions should I be looking into? Looking for any advice from anyone who has made a similar move.

Thanks.
