Blackstone Restructuring Associate / generic PE

hey guys - wanted to see whether anyone had insights on how the work / life / exit opps etc. are at Blackstone Restructuring for a post-MBA associate.

Basically trying to gauge how BX Restruc. compares to a generic middle market PE shop in terms of long term career development.

and Pike .. its somewhat of a tougher question long term. If I eventually want to build my own distressed investment firm would a couple years of Bx Restructuring help me in terms of being able to move to a larger fund vs. taking a mid-market PE gig (which is gonna shakeout pretty drastically over the next few years)?.

My thought process was that although PE / investing is where I eventually want to be, it might be a good idea to take the BX name and training in the short term. I already have IB and public investing experience at a large hedge fund (pre-MBA). Putting a couple years at Bx restructuring seems like it would teach me a lot. Or maybe not? What do you guys think?

I personally don't know why more people don't want to do Restructuring? You get exposure to all banking products, deal in more technical depth and learn how firms have become distressed and then how to fix it. But that's just me, I find it fascinating and the way i see it is that if you can find value in the most screwed up, over geared, 2007 era sponsor owned then you can easily find value in a well performing spin off or standard LBO target.
