Based on my discussions with friends, I have found that preference skews toward the hair color of your mother. Definitely subconscious and I'm sure there's some level of biological truth to that but I don't care enough to confirm.
That being said I have a type and it is hint of ethnic tan brunettes
(Mediterranean) brunettes
