Boutique to Lateral Analyst

Been working at a Boutique (mostly buy & sell-side M&A in a niche industry) for two years now. One year as an intern during school another as a FT analyst. Trying to lateral to NYC MM/BB/EB. Anyone have any tips? Been applying online, reaching out to headhunters and alumni. Also anyone have any insight on the lateral interview process? Any advise is highly appreciated.

“Use the STAR structure: Situation, Task, Action, Result. Spend most of your time on what you did, not the backstory. Say "I" instead of "we" so interviewers can judge your contribution. Quantify results whenever possible, like "cut turnaround from five days to two." End with what you learned. Pick stories with real stakes, keep answers to about two minutes, and prepare five to seven flexible stories you can adapt to different questions. Practice out loud so it sounds natural, not memorized. If you share a real story, I can give specific feedback.”
