Buy-side Recruiting for new Analysts?!

Hi all,

hope all is well. I am confused on how buy-side works for incoming/new analysts.

correct me if I am wrong, but I am just hitting the desk and I am supposed to recruit for 2 years in advance without any deals or anything? And I just hit the desk and I am supposed to already be gone from it for a full day to recruit?

am I missing something here? Did I get the idea here wrong? If no, how the fuck am I supposed to juggle all of this? It feels overwhelming.

as well, coming from a mega non target at a fairly decent mid-tier BB coverage group, are UMM out of reach? I assume MF is.
