Can people at GS provide insight into firms culture etc?
There is a lot of GS slander on this forum and there are definitely some solid reasons why. But I wanted to know if anyone from GS has any perspectives on the firm and can either confirm the toxic culture or is there a different point of view internally?
Hamptons lunch for me but not for thee.
If you're interviewing just look up their website at their countless garbage initiatives and bullshit philanthropic efforts. Their bottom bucket HR team loves that digestible garbage
Less so for interviewing, more so to understand if I want to work there. Deciding between GS or JPM.

Would take GS hands down. JP culture is also just not good and pretty sweaty in most groups...if you're gonna have a rough time might as well have it at GS. Kinda dark way to look at it but that's how I'd think about it
As a gs alum I hate the culture but yes choose gs over JPM and hate your life for a few years, it’s fine.
Be safe man. Hating your life is prob not such a healthy thing to do…
Agreed that this is the approach I am thinking of, sacrifice 2 years for a better name so that I have more optionality down the road.
Okay man. I hope you get some good luck
was a deal with them a while ago. TMT SF team is super arrogant.
Is that where the gs13 came from?
Can you elaborate on how exactly they are arrogant?
They cut off their own people from speaking, even senior VPs. Would agree to materials and then do.their own thing. I'm at MS and while we have some tools, they blew us out of the water. Incredible really.
There's no such thing as firm culture. It's a bullshit term that HR and bankers like to say when they're recruiting unsuspecting candidates (hell I've used it but it doesnt mean anything)
The reality is that every group at every bank has its own quirks (good and bad).
Maybe
Anyone who has worked in the industry would agree with this
Alright
I use to agree with this but now I disagree. I believe different groups have different vibes but I do also think there’s such thing as a firm-wide culture. I’ve honestly been to some firms that are just full of posh people and within that, each group have their own way of doing things
