Can someone please briefly explain to me the various fields within finance?
I am a newcomer to the world of finance and am still trying to figure out the difference between fields like S&T, securities, equities, fixed income, IBD, buyside, sellside, asset mgmt, etc.
I'm assuming IBD is the hardest to break in and the most well-paid at the entry level... but could someone please explain to me how all of these fields differ in terms of job description, skills required, and compensation?
Thanks!
MOD EDIT: USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION

No...go google search those terms and come back with pointed questions.
If you go to his user page he has been starting retarded question topics for over a year now! I could spend over a year on this site in a language I don't even know and have at least some sort of clue whats going on.
