Can someone please help me find data on commercial construction?
Hi all, I am working on a time-sensitive project and was hoping you guys could help me.
I am looking for data on private commercial (non-residential) construction spending. Specifically, I would like to find out how much is being spent on retail construction projects on either a monthly or annual basis. Within this category, I am interested in knowing how much is being spent on stores, distribution centers and warehouses, and other major structures for the retail sector. Both historical and projected data would be helpful.
Also, can someone please let me know how long the average cycle is from the time that construction is first commissioned to the time that the building is completed? In addition, once an entity commits to building a distribution center or warehouse, how long does it take to complete the project on average? Finally, how often do the builders pull the plug on a project, either before or during construction? I'm just thinking that given the way the economy's going, it's quite possible that retailers may aim to have a new warehouse built, but then change their mind once they realize the economy's in trouble.
If you guys can let me know whether this data is tracked, I'd much appreciate it. Also, if anyone has useful websites (like the American Institute of Architects, perhaps) or research they can send me, that'd be great. Thanks in advance.
