Can you go from IB to HFT?
Obviously not a quant role but more towards the capital raising/M&A/corp finance aspect. Not sure if this is possible but just was thinking. Any input is appreciated.
Good family friends with a prominent HFT firm founder, there are almost zero needs for an employee dedicated to capital raising (HFT takes almost no capital allocations) or M&A. The industry has consolidated; however, HFT firms are not very active in the M&A space.
From a corporate finance standpoint, allocations are done by the PM or head trader for a given desk. Typically a quant themselves if the allocation decisions aren't automated. The finance team at the HFT firm I am familiar with is full of former big 4 accountants.
