Can't Sleep For Shit - NYC Edition

Just moved to NYC and I can't sleep for shit. I live on the third floor of a building and street life is loud as hell. Feel like I'm waking up everyday with like 50% charge, and would love to actually get a full nights sleep. Anybody have any suggestions?

I like using white noise. There are some good soundtracks on Spotify/YouTube. The Calm app is also really good for helping me get to sleep but you have to pay

As others have said: earplugs and white noise are both good options. Other things to consider:

- make sure you have a good mattress. This can help

- if you have the $$ get your windows changed (talk to your landlord) - this is a long shot as it is expensive and your landlord probably won’t want to pay for it, but there are some great windows that will limit noise.

I live on the second floor of a 2nd ave apt which is very noisy and I sleep like a baby.

2 things: my HVAC unit is somewhat loud, so if you don't have AC or a loud fan maybe start there

My mattress/sheets/blankets setup is absolutely fantastic. Critical to not cheap out here. Plenty of very high quality mattresses that can be found for around $300.

Noise cancelling headphones - would recommend you test out Bose and similar quality brands (if you go the company shop they will let you) and see what you think. Don’t cheap out here as the lower quality ones are “noise resistant” which is useless for your situation.
