Career Change: Getting into IB - late 20’s

Hey guys, recently I’ve been considering a thought I had back when I was in college. I went to Baruch College and many of my friends got into banking. My GPA wasn’t great and I wasn’t focused on networking to break into IB from a non-target. But, I always think about “what if?” One of my best friends got in at Soc Gen then PE and is making great money now. I know it would be a grind but now I’m nearly 28 and thinking about getting into banking and really trying to make it. I have 4 years of experience in real estate private equity + working at a public REIT. Now, I’m sending out messages to old connections at banks to try my hand. I do remember coming across a guy back in my buddy’s banking days that had broke into banking in his late 20’s / early thirties. I know exactly what I’m sacrificing and what to expect. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Has anyone made a similar career move? Forgot to mention I’ve got a bachelors in Economics from Baruch (graduated in 2021 with a 3.2 GPA) and a MS in Real Estate from NYU which I’m increasingly seeing was a pointless move. Please share anything you think would be helpful!
