Hi,
as far as my assessment goes, IB seems to be very traditional in its approach to an employee's appearance (i.e. always properly shaved with suit and tie). This seems to especially hold true when you compare it to tech-companies or the average employee you face in a start-up.
Do you think this might change in the future or are there already companies that follow another approach?

Depends where you are. Dress is much different in Tier 2 cities compared to NYC. For HL in Minneapolis... those guys show up in t-shirts and flip flops.
Can confirm. I wear business casual(ish) and I work at WFS in Charlotte. Usually button down, suit pants or equivalent, and loafers of some kind.
Business casual (button down, chinos, no tie, no jacket) is pretty common at smaller shops in the MM, especially outside the major cities. Could see some firms not giving a shit and allowing totally casual under certain circumstances (not including meeting with clients, attending events, obviously).
