Know that they typically payout bonuses during Christmas so was wondering what the number looks like now given that we’ve heard about their huge bonuses but don’t know actual numbers.

Bonuses down from last year (not surprising given broader market and the full effect of salary increase). There was also a wider range of buckets this year but as a reference point, know some analysts 1.5 years in to the job (1st full bonus) were between $230-$250k all in. Very good objectively and esp relative to the other banks.

Not comparable periods. Other boutiques have not paid out analyst bonuses that included effects of the market downturn. Remains to be seen how this stacks up but honestly think this will be the high water mark based on what I’m hearing at my own firm
There's not a single bank that would pay their analysts 250k 1.5 years into the job given the current market environment...July bonus is not a good comparison to what banks are dealing with right now
$230-250K as a second year analyst is a little bit higher than BBs that paid well this past summer (I.e. August 2022 cycle) and less than EBs who paid analysts on a summer cycle. Truth is, based on what we’ve seen CVP paid the same as Citi and BMO this December.
CVP pays way more than every bulge bracket. Morgan Stanley AN1s paid 148k all in compared to CVP 240k. And you're still upset?
Far below what you would expect from CVP, and below what anticipate other EBs paying in January. Estimate most at 60-80% of base. Difference of ~70K in analyst class between top and bottom bucket.
What is CVP base at a1/a2/a3?
110 (1/2 year), 130, 140, 150 (1/2 year)
Bonuses were down at the Aso level, TC at the As2/3 level came in at a 5-10% discount to PJT this time around. M&A fees held up well but retainers came in low (Cisco, being one of the largest clients, was a Handler relationship)
What were PJT Aso numbers like?
I don’t work in banking anymore but feel like the information here isn’t accurate. Some of you guys are saying $250k all in which is more than 100% of base is below Street? This is just misinformation
Believe they meant total comp at that level was that amount…
I’ll let you in on a secret, a lot of these people are just making up numbers. Neither of us will ever figure out why people do this (it’s a big thing in tech too).
People exaggerate to their friends who exaggerate to other friends and then nonsense makes it onto the online forums.
Don’t think anyone said $250K was below street - where did you see that? I think people said CVP still paid well but wasn’t clearly top of street across the board.
What were the An1 stub bonuses?

My An1 all-in this past year with the summer bonus was ~195k and that's with an above average bonus number from what I saw but lower signing bonuses than most EBs. How tf are people saying 250k is disappointing compared to BBs / EBs? IIRC Barclays had like a 50k bonus.

This is kind of confusing, could you just state what your TC (base + bonus) was as a second year analyst or explain what special bonus or signing bonuses you received this year?
I'm a second year - first year comp was 105k base + 75k bonus + 15k sign-on). I'm saying during bonus season most of the comps from BBs I heard were a lower bonus and EBs prob a bit higher. Not sure where 230-250k as the BB / EB norm comment came from.
Calendar year bonus schedule makes it difficult to compare but the 1.5Y bonus is more comparable to An1 than An2. For what it’s worth, I think this thread will age interestingly when other banks announce analyst bonuses that are loaded with the full impact of the 2H market slowdown
Weren't PJT's ASO bonuses based on the same calendar year bonus schedule or am I mistaken?
