Really want to break in IB. What are my chances to break into MM Healthcare-focused IB? My hope would be to do a it for a few years before moving into PE

  • 7 Yrs in mgmt consulting at Big 4
  • 2 years in strategy at large health system
  • Non-target undergrad. Econ and Psych major. GPA: 3.9
  • Part time MBA (T20). Graduate in 9 months. GPA: 3.9
  • Asian. First Gen College Student

Appreciate any advice and steps you can all provide. TIA

Good grades, decent exp.

Idk how part time MBAs work, but hopefully can use the brand name to network.

Have the profile, now chance is solely based on you.

You can get into EBs not just MMs if you have the technical skills/can interview well and network efficiently with senior folks.
Cast a wide net and keep hitting.

And you’re a woman, so def a plus. Might even get into GS/MS if you network effectively. I got referral's from a global head at GS and Sr MDs at EBs coming from a totally different field to MFin at 27 YO.

Bounded only by your own limitations, my friend.

You can def break into IB in the US. Tons of banks there - may not be Goldman or BBs/EBs but you can def break into IB. Start emailing MMs and look at other global boutiques. Also try BBs. You have a solid resume.

Why you gatekeeping? Breaking into BBs - if prepared on your part - is just having the ability to chat up the right person at the right time.

Sophomores giving shitty advice all the time.
