Changing jobs heading into a recession?

I’m 1 month into my second year and am feeling super burnt out and discouraged. I work in a really specific vertical that is more technical than most and just can’t get the hang of the modeling and attention to detail. I’ve struggled with mental health all my life but have been so depressed lately and have barely been making it into work in the mornings. My relationship is super strained and my personal health is also in the toilet, I feel like I am giving it all I can but its not meeting expectations and I am still making mistakes I made a couple months into the job.

I feel worried about quitting because of the recession and my firm has good job security. I guess my question is should I try to look for something less technical and demanding so I can feel better? Or keep working and trying to figure it out because I’m worried if I leave the next job won’t have the same security. Please help, any advice is appreciated.

Take time off if you're feeling burnt out. If you're in something like FIG, try and switch into a different coverage group. Don't give up, the first year or so is the toughest but it gets much easier over time.
