Chopard vs Frederique vs Rolex
Until now I have a longiness hydrconquest blue dial and Baume & Mercier Capeland. I am looking to my next step and buy a life lasting watch that will be my last (I don't want to spend any more money on watches).
My three options are:
- Rolex Milgauss (Black): https://www.rolex.com/watches/milgauss/m116400gv-…
- Chopard Mille Colors (Yellow): https://www.chrono24.com/chopard/mille-miglia-rac…
-
Frederique constant Worldwide manufacturer (blue): https://frederiqueconstant.com/watch-finder/manuf…
I don't want opinions on additional models, just tell me which one of those would you pick and why.
Thxxx!
Not a big fan of any of them. If I had to choose, would pick the Frederique Constant.
You shouldn't buy a watch IMO at this stage in your life. Save and invest your money or start a side hustle with that money so that one day you can buy a $50K watch, not a $5K one.
I would never want a 50k watch, my max would be 8k. I saved around 15k my first year which is fully invested + a 20k loan that I took just for further investing. I am planning to pay for the watch on a monthly basis (obvsly not by selling the invested amounts) so I don't think it would have such an impact.
And yeah I'm really keen on the Fred Constant
You took a $20k loan for investing??? Are you mental??
Also why would you pay monthly payments (unless interest free) for a $8k watch when you have a grand total of $15-20k saved. Sounds like you’re trying to buy something that you can’t afford.
Mental? lol any one with a lil finance knowledge would do the same in their 20s... im paying 2% interest on the loan and have eveything invested in european small cap and emerging market equity, ofc ill get more than a 2% return... so its a win win.
Regarding the watch, ill be paying it monthly since I don’t want to sell the stocks, and I consider it an investment since all these watches (specially milgauss) will at least maintain its value.
.
Yikes.
Sure, a Milgauss will hold at least some of its value, but appreciate? No way. It will be nowhere close to the returns you'll get on other SS Rolexes. If you can get one at retail, that is.
where u getting the 2% loan?
Nobody panic - european small caps and emerging markets have never sold off before. They're basically the same as bonds....issued by Greece.
Your preferences will change as you get older. The longer you stay in high finance, the more you start comparing yourself to others and the type of watches they have.
Every analyst on Wall Street has a 5k watch nowadays.
Milgauss all the way! Your Baume & M is already similar to the Fred. Milgauss is such an underrated Rolex model.
Avoiding the conversation that's going on above (yikes)...
Personally not a huge fan of the Milgauss and Rolex (Mainly their AD's) has been rubbing me the wrong way lately.
Don't like the yellow in the Chopard.
Actually really like the Worldtime... might consider shopping around for one myself. This would be my first pick.
Certified watch whore here.
I would go white dial milgauss over the black dial as it has been discontinued and is more likely to go up in value. The other watches you suggested are pretty meh.
What features are you after exactly? Personally I dislike Rolex because it sends the wrong message sometimes.
