Citi Commercial Banking -> Decent MBA -> DCM

Does this plan sound realistic? I have an offer for Citi's lower MM group in commercial banking. It does include a formal credit college, that I think is really good.

I will get my undergrad from a Nontarget business school (around 25th in the rankings) but I will graduate with a 3.8. Took the GMAT and scored a 630 without studying much.

I would like to end up in corporate DCM or LevFin. I know commercial banking gets hated on, but I would like to guage the opinions on CB within a bulge bracket at least.

That would be a great option, thanks. It'll probably be awhile before I get my MBA anyway.

I'm actually on hold for an upper MM group also with Citi, I'll know by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Once you are in the door it's all about networking. I see no reason you need an MBA to get where you want to be. The trick is to be in with some people who throw your name in the hat when someone leaves a seat. By the time it's on the job board it's usually gone.

720 sounds crazy. I'll know after I prepare more for the next one.

Thanks, everyone. I am really just happy to have a foot in the door.

Anyone know what lower MM really means? I know the larger MM interviewer mentioned they handle firms up to $1B in revenue, right before things go to the corporate bankers. It's just middle market gets thrown around nonstop and it means different things to almost every firm. Interestingly, he said there are two offices that do lower MM. One in NYC, that underwrites for the Northeast and then his office, that handles the rest of the country...
