Citigroup Leveraged Finance/HY (Capital Markets)
I have done quite a bit of research on Citi's NY Leveraged Finance/HY group that is situated within the Capital Markets Division. I know that a number of members on WSO have their reservations since its not situated within IBD (thus it is not modeling intensive).
However, from talking to a former analysts that was situated in LevFin - London, her experience had decent modeling through structuring alternative credit scenarios (i guess that is limited in the eyes of many). She also stated that many moved into IBD coverage groups. Additionally, PE/HFs consistently picked off employees from her group.
Was wondering if this was the case for others in Leveraged/HY groups that are situated in Capital Markets divisions and not in IBD? Also, would love to hear about other tasks that may have been performed at Citi from an analyst/associate perspective that aren't highlighted on many of the wallstreep prep websites.
I know some of the other banks split the Lev Fin groups so that one ismore capital markets the other more similar to IB.

Any thoughts on this group at Citi?? Or in general their Capital Markets Group there? I think they split their capital markets groups from the ibd, unlike other bbs.

What's the deal with this group? They are technically under capital markets, not IBD. Same pay as other IBD groups at Citi?
Yeah, basically comparable pay, and similar hours as well. Strangely for lev fin groups, they don't do much modeling--IBD does most of their modeling for them.

Is Leveraged Finance not an Investment Banking Group at Citi? Does this not fall under the investment banking division or is it under capital markets? Why is this different compared to the other i-banks who have it under investment banking
