I was very impressed with citizens when I interviewed for them. Unfortunately the role closed, but it’s by far one of the best banks for culture, learning, and wlb. Exit opportunities come from your accomplishments at your firm, not the name.

citizens m&a is a real mm shop. the jmp deal in 2021 plugged in capital markets and sector coverage so the platform is bigger than people assume. business services is actually one of their stronger verticals - that and industrials and healthcare services are the core engines of sponsor-driven mm deal flow right now.

comp is the standard mm trade. base is roughly street, bonus is discounted. exits are mm/lmm pe and corp dev, not megafunds - if that's the goal you lateral up after a year or two.

culture-wise it's a commercial bank parent so less sweatshop than the pure advisors, but live deals still eat your weekends. that's true everywhere.
