Community college to IB. Looking for the most effective path forward.
Hello, I am a 20 year old community student in California looking to find a way to break into MM IB. I will give my personal stats for reference. I am approximately half way through my 60 credits required for transfer. Current GPA is sitting at 4.0. I will have automatic admission to most UC’s (excluding Cal and UCLA) and SDSU. My personal target schools are UC Berkeley and UCLA. I understand that it may be difficult in my situation to break into investment banking due to the fact that most applications for junior year summer internships are during sophomore year. I presume that the fact I am still in community college excludes me immediately from getting to the next step of application. I have been speaking with AI a lot over the past few weeks about the best path forward, however I am getting inconsistent results. I don’t come from a very wealthy family and don’t know many bankers. my dad is in the scientific field and my mother works in HR at a tech company. I also don’t have enough money to pay for specific coaching plans. I am simply just throwing this message out here to see where it lands. If anyone reading this has any experience recruiting IB or were in a similar situation to me before entering IB, let me know what you think the best steps forward to securing a solid Middle market ( or bulge and EB if realistically possible) job in investment banking. Also, let me know if anyone is willing to meet online for a short chat sometime on Thursday or Friday. Thanks.
Plenty of people tranfer into cal and land ib. Example there was a pjt rssg hire and cvp hire a while back IIRC.
