Competing Internship Offers
Question about the etiquette of applying to buy-side internships after already receiving and accepting a spring week conversion offer:
So here's the issue. Earlier this year, I completed a spring week at a BB which I converted into a summer internship offer (which as far as sellside goes I’m very happy with).
I'm also interested in applying directly to some buyside internships for the same summer although I've already accepted the internship offer in banking. So the question is, how acceptable is it to apply for other internships in a different industry given I've already accepted an offer? Is it seen as unprofessional to use it as leverage on my cv to score interviews on the buyside? Or should I just not mention it?
Don't worry about reneging. The question is more: do you think you have a shot at a return offer with the buyside internship? If not, do the BB.
So I haven't received an offer yet on the buyside but was more just wondering whether I should apply in the first place and whether it's a good idea to mention my existing offer on my CV, since not mentioning it would imply I failed to convert my spring. I'd understand it would be wrong if I was applying to a competitor, but since it's a completely different industry is this still the case? Thanks for the help.
Just add a "Received return offer as summer analyst" bullet in the spring week section
