Constructive Criticism - A lost art in IB

As an analyst it really sucks sometimes to see the negative side of IB culture.

I’ve been on the desk sub 3 months and it’s really off-putting to think about spending years doing this when you get dug into for first time mistakes on minutia such as wrong font size..

It makes you feel like all the other work you put in was worthless all because of a mistake that takes minutes if not seconds to remedy.

Why is it there a need in this business to just inherently look to criticize and make people feel dumb for your mistake rather than just point it out to and say look for it next time (especially if it is a first time mistake)? Do people think that is somehow more effective?

Insecurity and small pp energy. I've only dealt with two such people in my entire career and they both def have micro penises.

All jokes aside, there is no shortage of fucking atrocious people managers in our industry. Think about it, is anybody trained or taught how to manage a team? Especially in a high stress, high performing ego driven culture like ours. You often fall back on how you were managed as a junior, even the toxic aspects. Motivating and getting the most out of a high performance team is tough man. Fear-driven driven leadership gets shit done in the short term and a lot of people don't know better.
