How easy or difficult is it to move from corporate finance at a BB to Investment banking?

I hear its doable, but pretty darn difficult.
As for salaries, a friend of mine at Goldman Sachs told me in NY they would pay CF around 55-75k, but IBs are getting double that.
Is corporate finance that different from IB though? I dont understand why it is that difficult because in most banks is corporate finance not included in the Investment bank arm? Is it still difficult if you do corporate finance stint at a top BB

corporate finance is a pretty vague term..
Some mean it as Treasury, Controllers, FP&A, Strategy, Biz Dev, etc.. Others could mean Corp. Finance in the traditional IB sense..
No. It is cut and dry. Corp Fin at a BB is not IBD.

Corporate finance is about funding a company. This is what a firm's CFO/corporate finance department does.
Firms sometimes hire IBs to act as external corporate finance groups. That's why some people refer to IB as corporate finance. As a banker, you're offering corporate finance services to other firms. When a firm needs a lot of capital, your services allow you to offer cheaper funding than their CFO can provide.
What you're describing sounds like a bank's own internal corporate finance group. Any company with a CFO has this in some capacity. You wouldn't be working with clients, you'd just be funding the bank itself. However, the skillset will be the same between the two roles, so moving to IB may be feasible.
Oh ok. The reason I am confused is because I was looking around online the difference between cf at account firm and investment banking and people were saying their was not a difference but people also said that it was hard to move to ib.
This isn't that hard of a concept.
At Accounting firms and a few middle market shops, corp fin = IB. For BBs it does not.
night and day difference between IBD / Corp Fin.
Corp fin is way more low key, easy, & simple minded.
Pay in IBD way higher.....
