Course withdrawal - help

I’m currently a sophomore at a non target, I have a 3.72 gpa and my goal is a 3.8 or at least 3.7+. My goal is IB or AM, so here is my problem. I am currently in our financial modeling course that is required to graduate. I failed my 2nd test and because of the way the course is structured even if I get a 100 on everything else I can only get a B as the highest but could get lower. So my question is do I just accept the grade I get and move on? Or do I drop the course take the W on my transcript and retake it a different semester? I really need advice this class is extremely important and I do really enjoy the class I just messed up on a portion of it. Also, if I do drop the course and take the W how would I explain that in an interview or however it gets brought up?

Any advice would really be appreciated. Maybe I’m overreacting and sound like a loser but I had a 2.7 in high school and I’ve really tried to turn it around in college.
