Credit Suisse IBD Groups?

im an incoming summer at CS. what's regarded as top groups at Credit Suisse these days?

it seems like people have been saying that M&A, financial sponsors and TMT are the places to be not too long ago.

i wonder if it still holds true after recent restructuring and shakeup within the bank? also is cs a sinking ship on the us as an investment bank?

thanks guys for your input

Group 'rankings' probably still hold from years in the past though I'd imagine the deal flow in sponsors has been weaker than in past just based on the market conditions

ive been recently reading that CS has been turning down debt financing and offloading its debt portfolio

WSJ - M&A Bankers Saying No to More Junk. Banks retreat from the lucrative but risky business of backing debt-heavy buyouts

WSJ - Credit Suisse Slashes Debt Trading With Private-Equity Deal.TPG affiliate to pay about $1.27 billion for some of CS’s distressed debt

does this signal that i should try to stay away from financial sponsors group? to my understanding, the bank's ability to provide debt to pe deals is closely related to its deal execution and therefore ranking

these are observations based on my summer experience. it speaks to more of their work / life balance and culture

Sponsors - still regarded as 'top' group. works closely with a number of coverage groups as well as LevFin guys M&A - one of the hardest working groups in the bank. focus was predominantly on deal execution (vs. pitching done by the coverage groups) FIG - you can say fratty or tightly knit. the group goes out for drinks quite often. they had a very stressful summer last year due to high deal flow TMT - one of the hardest working groups in the bank, along with M&A, and great culture Consumer / retail - most family-like group of the different groups ECM / DCM - arguably the most lifestyle oriented groups in the bank
