Data Analyst - Call with Associate in IB scheduled through connection - how to impress

Data Analyst working for small RE fund. Dealing primarily with analyzing our investor base and their behavior. Some modeling related to funds NAV

Personal connection of mine recently got me in touch with an associate banker at BB firm. Call went well, she was impressed and put me in touch with two other associates. She mentioned that both of these individuals are hiring for open slots in their group.

Any recco's on how to approach these calls - end goal is to be put through formal hiring process. No previous IB experience. Prior experience consists of capital markets.

This could be a networking or interview call, just depends on whether the first associate said "Hey, this guy reached out, can you talk to him" or "Here's an applicant for the analyst role you have, already walked through his IB interest and he has a good background" so you have to be prepared for both

Would be interview ready (behaviorals, some light technicals - if you haven't started that do it asap) but also have 8-10 networking questions for them prepared if they expect you to lead the call. At the end just say that you're interested in lateraling, do they have any advice or insight on what that process would look like.

Make sure to research their groups, have a deal each group did to briefly mention, and think of why you'd want to do X group. Don't tell both groups they're your top choice or anything - people get you'll take the spot that's offered, just show some interest in the sector.
