Dating girl to get internship

Hello,

Apologies this might come across as weird to some.

To make it short ex-gf's dad is a partner at a leading EB in NY. He offered me to be a summer intern at the firm but in the meanwhile I broke up with her. I don't love her anymore but I can 100% get back with her if I want to. I don't have an internship for next summer so I am tempted to get back with her so that I can intern at the dad's firm. I know it's quite unethical but also the end justifies the means...

Anyone has been in this situation before? Did it make you feel like you're a bad person?

Yeah I don’t think that’s cool. You’re clearly using/manipulating that relationship. Not only is this an issue of personal morality, what would you do if you actually got the position. Would you then break up with this person again? How would the partner feel about you clearly using his/her daughter? Sounds pretty terrible to me. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard somewhere that your reputation in the smaller world of finance is kinda really important

Id consider it but realize the potential fallout if you break up with her and then have to work directly under her father. Would you get a return offer? Would work suck if he hates you and you’re on his team? You need to make sure this doesn’t blow up in your face

People commenting in a heavily sanctimonious manner as if this OP was suggesting something akin to a war crime. I have news for you all: this happens every single day and has done throughout the thousands of years of history of the human race.

That being said OP, don’t do it. Really isn’t nice to play with someone’s feeling like that for your own gain, even if it is widespread.
