D.E. Shaw vs. I-Banks?
Which is the better choice for someone right out of undergrad? By I-banks I mean the top banks excluding GS/MS. I heard DE Shaw is extremely hard to get into, and I feel that they are a fast growing company with high pay and nice hours. I-bank you learn a lot in a short period of time, but maybe it's something you can get into after MBA so you don't have to start at bottom. As far as MBA goes, which would give better opportunities?
Generally D.E. Shaw is looking for math, computer science, and engineering sort of people, the kind one might find on the trading floor on a highly quantitative desk. Maybe they do hire some people for fundamentals, I am not sure.
