Delayed Buyside recruiting?
Is it common to delay buyside recruiting? I understand that many first year analysts recruit near the start of their first year, but that means they haven't had a chance to experience banking and maybe there's a slight chance they would like it.
Alternatively, if someone wants to go to the buyside but starts at a MM bank that doesn't have great exits, would it make sense/be possible for them to lateral to another bank and then recruit during their second year (first year at the new bank)?
Appreciate any insight.

Yes and it’s very common, you can participate in on-cycle next summer as well as a 2nd year
Are your chances just as good? Will buy side firms ask why you didn’t recruit?
Yeah just as good and even if they do you can just say you wanted time on the desk to think about your career goals or something
