Hey, do any analysts really get to partner level or partner in any field like pe or hf, or do they wind up someplace else

Where do you think the partners are coming from? Of course analysts become partners, but that doesn't mean it will be easy. I think there is a statistic out there about how many of the GS "partners" started with the firm as an analyst and as I recall it is more than 50%.
No bro, the partners just spawn in.
Most investment banks will promote literally anyone to Director. That's where the scrutiny starts. It's not so much a question of whether you'll get there, it's a question of whether you jump ship for something better before you do. Analysts going to MD is only rare because nobody wants to do it anymore.
