Do banks and funds allow you to install Excel add-ins?

I recently attended my bank's training where they brought in Training The Street and we went through some great Excel training. Part of it was installing the TTS Excel add-in.

When I got back to my office, it seems that I cannot download the add-in, and thus some of the training was essentially irrelevant to my job. I was wondering, for those of you at banks and funds, does your firm allow you to install add-ins that can make Excel more intuitive and thus your work more productive?

Almost never, except in the case of approved products from credible vendors that have a formal relationship with the bank and have been vetted by the bank's information security team. Plugins create security risks, specifically via embedded malware that can facilitate data theft.
