Do banks know if you apply for multiple positions / groups within same bank? Lateral IB

I’m applying for lateral positions within IB. I’m currently in the process for a group at one bank, but they have positions open for other groups too. While my first choice would be the group I’m in the process for, I still want to diversify my risk and apply for other groups. I don’t want to wait to see if I get rejected in my current process to apply for the other groups when positions fill up very quickly and they may not have availability then.

However, I’m afraid that the group I’m in the process for will know and ding me for it. That happened during my IB SA recruiting where I was interviewing for two cities and both dinged me at the same time for that specific reason.

Does anyone know whether banks know if you apply to different groups / will they care?
