Yes, and no.

BobbYou will have your own email and why would you ever want business email on your personal phone?

This

Yes and you can use your own phone (or iPad in my case) if you get the secure app.

It is against compliance and business continuity to receive work communication on any other device than your company provided BB. Unless you want to get into legal trouble, don't even try.

Completely depends on the company. You can have our app installed on your phone/iPad/computer and access work emails from any of those devices.

Funniest

Obviously interns get their own email. It depends on the bank how it's done. At GS, for instance, it is done by team - so, all the TMT interns would share a single email address, and then fight to be first to reply. At banks like MS, it is a general intern email - all of you will share a single email address. However, because of this, there is less pressure to reply first. At BAML you actually get your own email, but are only allowed to access it after hours to save on computing power.

People are actually going to take you seriously here, come on now.

Guys, you get your own email alias for goodness' sake. You don't share them, you aren't copied to a group, you get your own and it typically follows the bank's naming conventions (i.e. [email protected] etc.). You get your own computer at arrival, and your email address has been set up prior to training.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

When I was an intern we didn't get our own separate emails and they actually just had me piggyback on the emails of one of the VPs. So every so often I'd have to go in his office, ask him to stand up, and sit in his chair to check my emails. Kinda sucked but whatever.

Of course it depends on where you're working. I had my own email at my mid-market last year ([email protected]) and I was definitely accessing it on my personal phone.
